Fingernail moon
a feeble scratch on the star-pocked vault
dim as the gaunt pilot guttering
our kitchen stove,
encroachment of snow-crusts all around.
how rigorous this cold little world is for now
yet how it will burn.

Robbie Gamble is the author of A Can of Pinto Beans, from Lily Poetry Review Press. His poems have appeared in the Atlanta Review, Lunch Ticket, Whale Road Review, Rust + Moth, and The Sun. He divides his time between Boston and Vermont.
